The instant that first slap resounded and the dust had settled,
I found myself caught in the snare; a wild ride
amidst gasps for air and blue from the lack of same.
A fine unnatural unbalance deserves a modicum
of trust; a must for one so blessed with wings to soar.

The Sunday Whirl
Written for THE SUNDAY WHIRL – Wordle #98
Nicely woven words!
Thanks Stan. The fabric of our poetics in a patchwork of fine threads, indeed!
Finely woven indeed !! So easy to relate to this !!
Thanks. It’s always a pleasure!
Your opening lines are vivid, but your economy of wording is exceptional,
Elizabeth

Thank you, Elizabeth. I’ve been trying to whittle the words down to a precious few and still say something. So far, so good.
Your brevity is impressive, Walt.
You know me, Laurie. Short and sweet! Thank you.
Well wordled, my friend. I especially like:
“amidst gasps for air and blue”
I gasp for blue, often. 😉
Wishing lungs full of blue for you, my friend!
The gasps for air and blue refers to being a breech birth and being stuck in the birth canal. I guess some “memories” stay with you.
concise and great imagery. The third line says so much – centers the piece.
Thanks Nan. The fewer words we use, the more economic they need to be; they need to say so much!
It is amazing that even without wings we know how useful they would be.
Flying high doesn’t require wings, Egg. It only requires a belief it can be done and our willingness to do so.
Word whittling is a favourite for me too..and the slap..the birth doesn’t seem to be the first day..not the actual first day at least..
The first slap tolls the birth of love; that first moment we realize we’ve been stirred to really start living. Thanks for visiting, Jae Rose.
Very tight writing. nice use of form and the wordle
Thanks Heidi.
You did manage all those pesky words, wow. Good one, Walt.
Pamela
Pesky they were Pam. It would make me nuts to not fit them all in. Thanks for peeking in.
I am on my way to the funny farm then. I left out 4 of them last week.
The funny farm isn’t that bad. Unless you have a problem with long sleeves…;)
Interesting take on this Wordle and very well done – as always! You are not nearly so late as I – I did mine over the course of six days, a you can see:

I know Paula. I found your concept rather interesting to be sure. I will head over to see the completed piece. Thanks for your kind words.
