Locked out.
Access denied.
I’ve tried to enter
your heart is boarded up
and down and out am I.
I thought love would be the key,
but between you and me,
I keep you close to mind.
I find you offer all
that my heart desires;
you are my treasure.
Locked in.

Written for Poets United – Verse First – Lock

Life is an acquired taste
and we waste so much of it
going through the motions
with no notion of how to thrive.

Each day is a new adventure,
another chance to dance unbridled.
The table is set and you can get
your fill; the next new thrill. Stay hungry.

Poets United: Verse First – Appetite

Look how we’ve grown.
Steps once unsure
now assure progress.
There is no regress to mess
with your hopes and dreams.
It just seems to be the way
we’ve always gone. Before long
we move by rote and emote
these feelings of purpose;
this bat out of hell in a hand basket.
The task is simple: succeed by all means
even if it means changing course.
In the end, it’s all justified
wherever your parachute lands.

What that simple hello began,
this tender caress continues.
Hues of blushed skin and
heavy bursts of exhalation
exacerbates our situation.
Were you chilled to the bone
your reaction would be similar.
But the warmth of this touch
ignites the fire within
and still these fingers linger.
