MASTER AND SAGE

“Try not. Do, or do not. There is no try!”
~ Jedi Master Yoda

Futile attempts are
when success comes not!
Become we do, what wish we,
but loss, arise it does, when
achievement flat on its face falls!
Satisfied be not, when accomplished
nothing is. Try not! Do
or do not. There is no try!

LONG AGO IN A POETRY BLOG FAR, FAR AWAY…

ORPHAN BOYS OF THE GALACTIC EMPIRE

“Did you know my father?” the farm boy inquired.
He was tired of searching faces for traces of familiarity.
No fear or temerity, only a gut full of anger; a blackness
that defined what “dark” was. An uncle and aunt
can’t keep him safe forever, he was strong.
Was it wrong to be so driven? He was living
for one purpose, to bring balance to the universe.
There’s a price on every head, and instead
of idealistic pursuits, your suit and dented helmet
covering your demented mind are all he could offer.
Your coffers will grow as long as you go out
and bring in the ones most wanted.
“Wretched scum and villain” fits him, and yet
you can’t escape the eyes of Fett!
“I AM your father” came the decree.
You would think it would free you of the burden,
but you know your inner strength is all you ask of it,
and no one forced you to this undertaking.
I have been the darkness, and you were right.
A father left to fight chooses a cause worth it.
Join me and we will rule the Empire on your terms.

MAKE JEDDHA GREAT AGAIN

"Old Rural Bridge"
“Old Rural Bridge”

The temple has been defaced.
There is no trace of life to be seen.
True, the hills are green and you’ve seen
holograms in the archives.
But you can feel it! It surrounds you.
It confounds you that something
so strong within you can run
so hot and cold, so light and dark!
The stark reality is you are the last
man standing. Commanding your force
of one. No one would have blamed you
for eschewing your ancient weapon
and hokey religion and flying Solo
with a blaster at your side.
But now you hide among the ruins,
stewing over every bad turn you take.
Make no mistake, you are the balance.
Under the valance of doubt and darkness
you hearken back to the farm
where you were just a naïve and charming boy.
Your father should have warned you,
but you would have resisted anyway.
You’ve climbed the stairs to your new station,
to bring order to this planet nation. And the galaxy.
Your new adventure awaits!

Poetic Asides Prompt #385: Ekphrastic Poem – “Old Rural Bridge”

STAR WARS PREQUELS ARE MOST CERTAINLY STAR WARS MOVIES

(You think these midi-chlorians are going to create themselves?)

Take your canon and blast it out your backside,
there has to be a backslide to tell the tale right.
It is a fight between good and evil, and farm boys
don’t just pop out of the sandy soils of Tatooine.
Do you mean to say that this space genealogy
has no merit? Tracing the family’s anthology is key.
Didn’t you like to see how Skywalker came to be?
How Anakin became Vader later?
How Supreme Leader Snoke is the brains behind
this whole epic battle? Or when he gets to say,
“Anakin, I am your father!!” (Speculated Spoiler Alert)
How much farther do you need to go to know?
So as to tell the tale without fail. The galaxy is much bigger
than all that. It’s only long ago and far, far away!
