A shadowed silhouette that walks softly,
a mirage in my night. Right before my eyes
you appear, standing in profile and who dispatches
denial and plants a smile where sadness had lingered.
With the touch of bent fingers on the soft spot
of my heart, I start to feel your energy, alive
with the light you bring. And my heart sings,
songs of a well-worn love. Because, you dance
in the heaven above and with a smattering of stars,
you bless me along with cool breezes that seize
our shared comfort and allows it to prosper.
You saunter in the night, and stir my tide,
a side of me others very rarely see.
You are quite a sight in this dreary night.
And you make me delight in what your heart reveals,
I praise the evening that you appeared in my sky!
The moon in my night. The breath to my sigh.
You are the moonlight!

How romantic and I specially (big) sighed at these lines:
You saunter in the night, and stir my tide,
a side of me others very rarely see.
You are the moonlight is perfect love poem Walt!
The moon elicits love for me in a big way. A long story in a short poem, Grace. But, thank you for this comment!
Wonderful! Especially this line “You saunter in the night, and stir my tide..” Sorry, just saw that others have written the same but I cannot help myself. This line is truly wondrous! 🙂
Big secret: A big favorite of mine as well. Was actually my first line until I shuffled things around a bit, Lillian! Thank you!
This feels like a Psalm to the moon, Walt, and is just incredibly beautiful.
Go on with your prayerful self! No, really, don’t stop… go on! Thanks De! 😀
There is a classical vibe to this, almost 19th century; so now you run with the Victorian Romantic poets; good on you, Walt.
I have a good “ear” I’m told and seem to be able to reproduce sounds and styles well (I’ve been told). I appreciate that you hear that in this, Glenn! Feels good on me!
Yes indeed. Good on you. I love the romantic vibe in this, the part of you stirred but rarely seen by others. Lovely and romantic this is.
Thanks, Toni! Always a hopeful romantic, so it comes through nicely, I’m told. I let others judge!
Nothing wrong with being a hopeful romantic Walt!
I know. That’s why I try to stay grounded in it!
There is a loving gentleness to this and I definitely want to take that moon personification to a deeper relationship…great parallelism in this.
Thanks Victoria. We all have that relationship with the moon, if we’ve ever been in love.
The moon is here is such a gentle giant, a wonderful being that gives more than it takes. A friend of lovers really.
The moon certainly gives all we can take. Generosity abounds in her sweeping embrace!
You saunter in the night, and stir my tide,
a side of me others very rarely see.
You are quite a sight in this dreary night.
Love this lines the most! Exquisite write ❤
Lots of love,
Sanaa
Thanks, Sanaa!
This sounds like a love poem to a person, not a personification. It’s swooningly romantic. You do these love poems very well, Walt!
Thank you, Sarah!
I start to feel your energy, alive
with the light you bring. And my heart sings,
songs of a well-worn love…… Oh, my heart – swoon worthy
Every one of my love poems comes with a bottle of smelling salts… for just such an emergency, Debi!
Thank goodness. Send me a gallon
personification of romance Walt – ‘standing in profile and who dispatches
denial’ is my favourite line – it makes the reader sit up
Glad to hear it, Laura! Thank you!
Moonlight does become us….this is a song, an ode to a once a month date with a beautiful friend and companion, always there.
She is certainly available and present, Kathy!
Such a romantic and sweet ode to the moon…and love those last two lines in closing, Walt.
I appreciate it, Gayle! Thanks.
I see a girl flitting through the woods of time dancing her way down the path only she can traverse and leading us safely through to the open meadow where legends boast and myths carouse while we mere mortals slink in the shadows fearing for our souls when we should be embracing love.
Your interpretation is as good as any, Brian. A great vision from what my words offer. Thanks for reading!

Beautiful poem “And my heart sings,
songs of a well-worn love.” Yes.
Radiant with the promise which buttons the entire journey.
Such lovely work, Walter, filled with the melody of “well-worn love” and romantic grace. 🙂
What a lovely metaphor for someone who loves you without condition, and has helped you through tough times.
