MORNING DANCE

The moon has long since crested, ready to rest in the bosom of day. Silence is the aria of morning, forming in crisp harmony with the symphony of coming light. Night creeps undercover in hopes of recovering her vigor. She has held aloft to guide stars in their journey, keeping pace on her cycle and spurning the tides to dance. But this is her chance to revive for the next new evening to arrive. The sun comes slowly to tuck her in, a great relief, perchance to sleep.

Crystal water sleeps
as life awakens beneath.
The day is new born.

  1. I love this. I am always so fascinated by the leaving of night and the coming of dawn…….the leaving of day and the borning of night’s dark skies and her lunar self. I love this idea of the sun “tucking her in”…..smiling I am at your writing here. Love this tale.

  2. I like thinking of the sun as tucking the moon in! At the other end of the day it is the moon tucking the sun in. And so often both do so in a blaze of color.

  3. Very positive and hopeful ~ Love this part:

Silence is the aria of morning, forming in crisp harmony with the symphony of coming light.

Thanks for joining our Haibun Monday ~

  4. I love your personifications of the sun, moon, night, morning…all having their appointed “duties” to help the others express themselves, or find some respite. A wonderful point of view!

Beautiful language, Walt, and I love the idea of the sun tucking the moon in to sleep during day.
