MEMORY FADES

Lost in many yesterday dreams,
languishing in a lost life.
As brain cells die, he fails to recall
parents long dead, daughters, a wife.
Vacant stares of sunken eyes,
a disconnect so painful. Each day
becomes night, becomes day.
Recollections for John are hard to come.
Death came long ago, but his body
continues to just play dumb. John lingers.
