FIN

…And in the end, the love you take
is equal to the love you make! Lennon/McCartney

We begin at the end.
The end of the road leads to a new horizon,
ever forward, ever reaching.
Teaching us that there’s more to love;
there’s more to life. Conclusions are not
final answers. They are alternate endings,
they are twists in the road. Choose
to never settle and prove your mettle
in the end. Love is the key. No lock
remains closed where there’s love!

Khara House’s 30 x 30 Challenge – Day 30 – Prompt 2: the end

FREE FALLING

Step-by-step closer to the edge,
looking to release the bond held tightly.
No other way out but down, and you know
whether wrong or rightly that your next step
may be your last. The die is cast.
You hear fate calling, leaving you
always free falling.

LET THE MUSIC LIFT YOU

A melody lane less traveled; disheveled.
The bridge on his guitar had shifted
bending the notes wildly and leaving his rock
quite unrolled. They called him “Bird” because
his riffs were flights of fancy,
retreats into heaven on rather unstable legs.
This “devil’s music” was more than they could bear
but he didn’t care. He had fallen victim to its power,
knowing full well that no man was an island,
but just put him in a meadow with his guitar,
and the music would soar to fill the angels hearts.

Written for THE SUNDAY WHIRL – Wordle #115

SWEET SURRENDER

Lips of tender compassion’s treat,
the confections of my soul at play.
Thoughts that give a rush so sweet,
offering utterances of a gentle sway.

The confections of my soul at play,
fills my heart with powdered dreams,
offering utterances of a gentle sway,
heartfelt words; the sweetest of cream

fills my heart. With powdered dreams
my sleep becomes a sugarplum trip.
Heartfelt words; the sweetest cream
melting to offer a tasty sip.

My sleep becomes a sugarplum dance,
visions so honeyed in the guise of you,
melting to offer a tasty chance,
my white flag raised to a love so true.

A vision so honeyed in the guise of you,
thoughts that give a rush so sweet.
My surrender to a love so true,
lips of tender compassion’s treat.

LARGE SAFFRON LIVERY

The paving of paradise notwithstanding,
and the lure of parking lots too demanding,
Faster cars and aeroplanes,
with past remembering on the brain.
Butterflies and trees all banished
and nature’s beckon almost vanished
in thoughts of more complacent days.
The gentleness of bygone ways,
fade in progressive vapor trails
to be forgotten without fail.
Oh world, blur marble you remain,
draw us now to your refrain.
Until it’s gone, you just don’t know
what you’ve got. Always seems to go
that way, doesn’t it?

ADMIT TO BEING WRONG

We are flawed human beings,
each of us seeing ourselves as impervious,
some devious bastardization
of who we really are.
But, we make errors like the next guy
and try as we might, what is right
isn’t always how it’s perceived.
It’s what we believe that colors our truth.
Right is right and wrong just isn’t right.
Try as we might, we must accept blame
in our name; tame the beast of least persistence.
Stand up for your actions taken. Even I
had admitted to being wrong once.
But, I was sadly mistaken.

Khara House’s 30 x 30 Challenge – Day 24 – I made a mistake

UNEARTHING THE PAST

On an archaeological dig,
through the historical site
which is my life.
More precisely,
an archive-logical dig.
A search for ancestry;
a validation of descendancy;
a self-searching soul.
Progenitors I had never known,
from places I have never
seen, nor heard about.
All clues in this
investigation, no revelation
left unturned. A return to
my origin, a re-birthing;
an unearthing. Placing me
at the scene of this life,
lived according to the dictates
of my DNA, and nurtured
by whichever diamonds
in the rough I uncover.

ANGEL IN HOCKEY HEAVEN

Pure and demure;
a sweet dimpled smile and a twinkle
that held any future wrinkle at bay.
To say she is a beauty is to be understated and
oblivious. But to ask her, she’d say
that a baggy hockey sweater was the way
to her man’s heart. Quoting statistics
as if they were chapter and verse,
and she’d curse like a sailor when
the home team failed her. It’s a shame,
but it’s only a game. “ONLY A GAME?”
she’d scream, for all her dreams include
the hardware. I don’t dare question her
loyalty; a given in hockey heaven.
Keeping her hockey royalty unimpeded.
She’s the son I never needed.

IN HER BLUE DRESS

She stood tall; second to the bride,
her “lieutenant” clad in beauty and
maid of honor blue. It would be true
to think she’d question where she was heading,
getting leery of the relationship she had.
He wasn’t bad just an unsure lad drawn
like a moth to a blazing conflagration,
laced with intimidation and lacking
a confident bent. If it meant a few more years
of uncertainty, she would certainly
be better served in another court.
But, she and her good sport find a kinship,
Joined at the hip and willing to face the world
in her blue dress. Who’d have guessed he had the legs for it!
