Getting embroiled in life so scripted,
drifting in and out of conscience
it becomes time used less wisely
and it’s no surprise.
A watched clock never boils.
So we speak of time passing,
amassing seconds and minutes
like nickels and dimes. Time
like wealth moves in stealth.
A watched clock sneaks up.
The obvious becomes less
as we traverse this mess
of our everyday living
giving little by way of hope.
A watched clock never tells time.
Time stands still.
It goes against a strong will,
bucking up for the worst
but the curse is cast in stone,
A watched clock never moves.
