SHIELD OF EXPRESSIVENESS

Words are my weapon of choice.
They are a means to give my thoughts a voice.
The same words that hurt can be
the same words that heal. For me
they act as a shield to protect
me from their gravity
by deflecting their weight.
All great super heroes are verbal zeroes
without an invincible way with words.
If you can’t talk yourself out of a fight,
you’ll be throwing punches all night.

For MIZ QUICKLY’S IMPROMPTU POETRY Day 21 – One Magical Item

THAT’S HOW THE FORTUNE CRUMBLES, COOKIE!

A love at first sight outshines all second thoughts.

A stolen moment takes time.

Bad comedian = no laughing matter.

Make love like war, but forget the body count.

He who pay piper, calls tune – as long as piper take request.

Wooing a woman is a case of mind over matter.
If she doesn’t mind, it doesn’t matter.

Give the devil his due, and pray he has change.

Success. The price they pay for the job we do.

Wisdom thrives between the heart and mind.
Avoid heartlessness and mindlessness
lest you be wisdom-less.

Written to prompt for NaPoWriMo 2013 – Day 21: Fortune Cookie

62nd ANNIVERSARY WALTZ

A day remembered over the years

marking our time; a time to begin.

Two in love starting a life joined

and going the distance, a lasting union.

You have passed, but your legacy

continues in our hearts and minds.

Never truly gone when recalled

with love and respect. You are missed!

In celebration of my parents who would have celebrated their 62nd Anniversary today (4/21/2013)

CULTURE AFTERSHOCK

Seeking shelter from the storm of hatred,
the shock of indifference reverberates;
a time bomb spent to quell revolution,
yet offering no solution. Hardened hearts
rage against the dying of the fight;
with the resilience that defines the struggle.
We promise to thrive; staying alive to land
on our feet. A firm resolve shipped and settled.
Who are the real infidels?
