It’s in my head, I can’t escape it,
for within it lies my truth.
These thoughts and words become my song,
a melodic twist of poetic justice.
Every step of every day becomes
a lively dance; a prance through
the obstacles we all face. But,
in its place is a rhyme that fuels me;
it won’t refuse me when I call.
Its all in a well turned phrase.
It makes my days fly by with a glint
in my eye and emotion to express my soul.
I’m in control. I’m a Poetry Man.
I make things all right!

Thanks Brian. I’ve been wanting to contribute to dVerse. I hope to be able to come around more often.
Yes you are!!
Thank you Henri. You always know how to make me feel productive. 🙂
“Its all in a well turned phrase.” Aye there lies the rub ( a dub dub ) !!
And it be true ! You are most definitely a poetry man and I salute you, for your consistent excellence !!!!
Thanks Randy. I do what I can!
Hello there! This reads really smoothly. I liked the line “in its place its a rhyme that fuels me” – I truly believe that art fuels us all 🙂
Thank you, Gretchen. This type of prompt always stirs my muse.
Phoebe Snow..what a talent and lost to us too soon. Yes, a poet does have the power to bestow glints of joy, smiles etc on others with just a few words. Surprised but pleased to see you here at dverse.
Thanks Cressida. Surprised?
in its place is a rhyme that fuels me;
it won’t refuse me when I call….good to feel that rhythm within and using poetry to express our thoughts and view on life..
Thanks Claudia. Indeed it is!
A beautiful song and poem. Very smooth, moving write based on this outstanding performance. Excellente.
Thanks stopping by, Henry. I give it my best shot!
Sweet reminder of Phoebe…glad I stopped by 😉
Glad you stopped by as well, Katy. Thanks for doing so.
Walt, you brought back a beautiful memory of the first time I saw Phoebe Snow live. I was mesmerized by her talent. Great song!
I always loved her voice. It was different. And the song itself, means a lot to a lot of us writers of verse. Thanks Sara.
